နှာခေါင်းနှင့်ပါးစပ်စည်းများတပ်ဆင်ခြင်းသည် COVID-19 ကိုကာကွယ်ရာတွင်အလွန်အရေးကြီးကြောင်း ကမ္ဘာ့ကျန်းမာရေးအဖွဲ့နှင့် မြန်မာနိုင်ငံကျန်းမာရေးနှင့် အားကစားဝန်ကြီးဌာနတို့မှ တိုက်တွန်းထားပါသည်။ အရည်အသွေးမှီသော နှာခေါင်းနှင့်ပါးစပ်စည်းအမျိုးအစားကို မှန်ကန်စွာရွေးချယ်အသုံးပြုရန်မှာအလွန်ပင် အရေးကြီးပါသည်။
အရည်အသွေးပြည့်ဝသော နှာခေါင်းနှင့်ပါးစပ်စည်း (Surgical/Procedure Face Mask) များသည် အနည်းဆုံးအလွှာ (၃) လွှာပါရှိပြီး ရောဂါပိုးမွှားများထိုးဖောက်ဝင်ရောက်ခြင်းမှကာကွယ်ပေးနိုင်ရပါမည်။ အလွှာ (၃) လွှာပါရှိသောနှာခေါင်းနှင့်ပါးစပ်စည်းများတွင် အပြင်ဆုံးအလွှာနှင့် အတွင်းဆုံးအလွှာတို့ကို ချည်ရက်ထားခြင်းမဟုတ်သောပစ္စည်းဖြင့်ပြုလုပ်ထားပါသည်။ အလယ်ကြားခံအလွှာသည် အရေးကြီးဆုံး အလွှာဖြစ်ပြီး ရောဂါပိုးမွှားများထိုးဖောက်ဝင်ရောက်ခြင်းကိုတားဆီးပေးနိုင်သည့်အဓိကအလွှာဖြစ်ပါသည်။ အလယ်ကြားခံအလွှာ၏ရောဂါပိုးမွှားများစစ်ထုတ်ပေးနိုင်စွမ်းသည် နှာခေါင်းနှင့်ပါးစပ်စည်း၏အရည်အသွေး ကိုစိစစ်သတ်မှတ်ရာတွင်အလွန်ပင်အရေးကြီးပါသည်။
နှာခေါင်းနှင့်ပါးစပ်စည်းများ၏ အရည်အသွေးစံချိန်တိုင်းတာမှုတစ်ခုဖြစ်သော ဥရောပနိုင်ငံများ၏ စံချိန် စံညွှန်းတစ်ခုဖြစ်သည့် EN14683 အရ ဘက်တီးရီးယားပိုးမွှားများဝင်ရောက်မှုမှကာကွယ်နိုင်စွမ်း (Bacterial Filtration Efficiency)၊ နှာခေါင်းနှင့်ပါးစပ်စည်းတစ်ခု၏ တစ်ဖက်မှအခြားတစ်ဖက်သို့ လေများဝင်ရောက် နိုင်စွမ်း (Differential Pressure)နှင့် အဆိုပါနှာခေါင်းနှင့်ပါးစပ်စည်းတွင်ရောဂါပိုးမွှားကင်းစင်မှု (Microbial Cleanliness) တို့ကိုမူတည်၍ နှာခေါင်းနှင့်ပါးစပ်စည်းများကို Type I, IR, II နှင့် IIR ဟူ၍ ခွဲခြား သတ်မှတ် ထားပါသည်။
ကျန်းမာရေးဝန်ထမ်းများသည် ဘက်တီးရီးယားပိုးမွှားများဝင်ရောက်မှုမှကာကွယ်နိုင်ခြင်း ၉၈% နှင့် အထက် ရှိသော (အမျိုးအစားအားဖြင့် Type II နှင့်အထက်) နှာခေါင်းနှင့်ပါးစပ်စည်းများကိုအသုံးပြုရန်လိုအပ်ပြီး လူနာများအနေဖြင့် ကျန်းမာရေးဝန်ထမ်းများနှင့် အခြားသူများကိုမကူးစက်စေရန် ဘက်တီးရီးယားပိုးမွှားများ ဝင်ရောက်မှုမှကာကွယ်နိုင်ခြင်း ၉၅% နှင့်အထက်ရှိသော (အမျိုးအစားအားဖြင့် Type I နှင့်အထက်) နှာခေါင်းနှင့်ပါးစပ်စည်းများကို စနစ်တကျအသုံးပြုသင့်ကြောင်း ကမ္ဘာ့ကျန်းမာရေးအဖွဲ့မှ ၂၀၂၀ ခုနစ်၊ မတ်လတွင်ထုတ်ပြန်ကြေငြာအကြံပြုထားပါသည်။

As recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) and Myanmar Ministry of Health and Sports, wearing a face mask is one of the most important preventive measures for COVID-19. It is important to choose a right mask of good quality.
A good quality surgical/ procedure mask has at least 3 layers to prevent from the penetration of microorganisms. In a 3-ply mask, the outer and inner layers are made of non-woven material, and the most important middle layer is a filter. The filtration efficiency of the middle layer is what defined the quality of a face mask.
According to European standard EN14683, face masks can be categorized into four types; Type I, Type IR, Type II, and Type IIR. This classification is based on bacterial filtration efficiency (BFE), differential pressure (Delta P), and microbial cleanliness.
In March 2020, the WHO announced that healthcare workers should use masks of EN14683 Type II or higher with BFE >98%, and patients should use masks of EN14683 Type I with BFE >95% or higher.
