The BD SurePath brand includes a liquid-based Pap test that is an FDA-approved process intended for use in the screening and detection of cervical cancer, precancerous lesions and atypical cells.
BD SurePath™ Sample Collection consists of BD SurePath™ Collection Vial with 2D barcode & Cervex-Brush for Specimen Collection. Cervex-Brush is Polyethylene brush of 20 cm long. The upper part is detached into the BD SurePath™ Vial after specimen collection.
Two different types of brushes with different packaging are available.
Cervex-Brush (Regular) - consists of flexible bristles of various lengths which allow collection of cells from the endocervical canal, the ectocervical area and transformation zone at the same time.
Cervex-Brush (Combi) is a newer version of the Cervex-Brush with a longer central axis with tiny crossed bristlesan and improvement over the regular Cervex-Brush as it collects 2-3 times more endocervical cells with only 2 clockwise rotations on the cervical os.
